The 1995 UFO Incident in Tanjung Sepat, Malaysia

The last major UFO sighting in Malaysia was the Tanjung Sepat UFO Incident in 1995. That was 17 years ago and due to the long time passing, there are not much information on-line on this and most people have forgotten about the incident.

Sightings of UFOs are rare in Malaysia but once in a blue moon, when it does happen, the sightings will quickly become big news and when the sightings are over, the news of the incident will disappear as fast from people's memories too.

Background of Tanjung Sepat, Selangor.

It is an area near to the coast of the state of Selangor and close to the area which is the Kuala Lumpur International Airport now.

It is a rural area filled with oil palm plantation and thick jungles and occupied by small villages and houses. People who live in the area worked as farmers, fishermen, plantation owners and plantation workers.

The UFO Incident

Reports of people seeing a "UFO as big as a football field, tall like a building with red, orange and green bright lights surrounding it and green humanoids 60 cm tall with long ears and red eyes" became the talk of the local villagers there in the month of October 1995.

Very soon the news reached the big national newspapers and the incident became national news. The incident became so big that some of the newspapers sent out their reporters to investigate the case. Here is an account by a reporter from " The Star" newspaper, Mr Ricky Lai in 1995 - " I went there at night and waited for a few hours then suddenly I saw a powerful bright light that could be seen from many kilo-meter away hovering and moving near the ground in the nearby jungle.

It look like the lights was falling down to the ground and I went to search for the landing site but could not find any evidences of landing. I took a few photographs of the lights and was awestruck that I had just saw a UFO in my lifetime. I camped there for a week but the lights did not reappear again."

The Government Explanation

The Malaysian government heard about the incident but declined to investigate it. According to the Science and Technology Minister, Mr Law Heng Ding, the government did not have the resources to investigate UFOs in Malaysia. He further said that they did not believe the story and since there were no damages or loss of life, the government believe the incident did not need a formal investigation and the case was closed.

Conclusion

The Tanjung Sepat UFO incident in 1995 was a big and memorable UFO sighting in Malaysia. Right after the incident occurred, the country organised the first Malaysia UFO Conference in a hotel in December 1995 which was a huge success, thanks to this incident. Whether this incident is true or not, nobody knows for sure but it cause a deep interest in the study of unidentified flying objects and strange lights in the skies of Malaysia.

10 Top UFO Hotspots In Malaysia

Last week I was curious about looking for the 10 top UFO hotspots in Malaysia but there wasn't much information on this. Sure, there were many sites and articles telling their interesting stories where UFOs have been spotted and You-tube videos but where are the top UFO hotspots in Malaysia ? This lead me to think that I will need to find out more and write an article to share some information with UFOs enthusiasts in Malaysia.

The information that I have gathered are from local newspapers, sites, books, articles and videos show that sightings of UFOs were as far back as the 1950's and all the states in Malaysia have reported UFO sightings. However, the number of reported sightings were much higher in West than the East Malaysia states. This lead me to believe that the hotspots were most likely in the West Malaysia states and these were the places that I've mostly looked at.

According to the data that I have collected from these sources, the 10 top UFO hotspots in Malaysia are :-

Sungai Petani

Kuala Lumpur

Petaling Jaya

Alor Setar

Kuantan

Klang

Ipoh

Bukit Mertajam

Johor Baharu

Seremban

The hotspots mentioned above represent places where there are at least three and above number of sightings and humanoids encounters over the last 60 years in Malaysia. In my humble opinion, new hotspots may also appear elsewhere in the future. However, if you are staying near or in these hotspots, it might be a good idea to look into the skies often, who knows, you might see something strange there.
